Triple CROWNAntonio Argüelles double conqueror

1st MEXICAN TO COMPLETE THE TRIPLE CROWN

The Triple Crown is an internationally recognized qualification for open water swimmers. Swimmers receive the Triple Crown for completing three marathon swims: the English Channel, the swim around Manhattan (the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim), and the Catalina Channel.

Canal de la Mancha

Recorrido:

English Channel

"The English Channel is the Everest of open water swimming—a stretch of water with multiple challenges in which weather conditions can change without notice. In 1999 it took me 18 hours and 19 minutes to cross it."

Catalina Channel

"Catalina is so difficult mainly because of the mental part. There are sharks in those waters and usually nothing to see at night. Before the Triple Crown was established, only 173 people had completed the crossing in nearly 80 years."

Manhattan Island Marathon Swim

"Manhattan is the perfect gateway for someone who wants to start in open water swimming. It is not a difficult swim because the weather conditions are relatively stable. Unlike the other two stages of the Triple Crown, this swim is along rivers not subjected to waves or ocean currents."
